3 Washoku Oceania Network Launches to Promote Japanese Culinary Culture

SYDNEY, NSW – The Washoku Oceania Network (WON), a new non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Japanese food culture, officially launched today. The organization aims to foster a deeper appreciation for washoku, or traditional Japanese cuisine, through educational initiatives and community events across the Oceania region.

WON will serve as a central hub for chefs, restaurateurs, and food enthusiasts, offering resources, workshops, and networking opportunities. The inaugural event, “Washoku Week,” is scheduled for this November and will feature a series of masterclasses and tasting events in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.

“We believe that washoku is more than just food—it’s an art form and a key part of our cultural heritage,” said Kenji Tanaka, founder of the network. “Our goal is to create a vibrant community that celebrates the traditions and innovations of Japanese cuisine.”
